Day 3 - Beechworth to Phillip Island

Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia

The next morning the place looked awesome so we took some photos around the campsite then headed into town for coffee . Beechworth is a nice town with plenty of history. They were filming the Cliff Young movie at the time. We checked out the shops in the main drag and the second main drag and bought some jams and fudge. We thought we'd have a look inside one of the clothing shops that had a sign out the front talking about natural, warm, comfortable and sustainable clothing clothes so we went in and had a look. We were quite impressed by the possum products (socks and beanies and stuff) so we asked the owner how they can make possum products without hurting the possum. She explained that the possum DOES NOT LIVE!! Was she fucking serious? We said that this was not what we would call SUSTAINABLE and walked out of there.

We continued our tour of Beechworth before we hit the road on our way to Melbourne then Phillip Island.

We stopped in at our favourite cafe in Violet Town at about 2pm to grab some toasties and coffee before continuing on our way . We hit the outskirts of Melbourne at about 4:30pm so peak hour traffic killed our plans to do some shopping in Melbourne so we continued to Phillip Island without stopping in Melbourne even though we passed right through the middle of it. I was a bit sad to have lost a small spider on my drivers door mirror which we must have picked up in Gundagai or Beechworth. I was determined to get him back to the bush but unfortunately a small mishap in Melbourne peak hour traffic (I opened the window for some air and he wanted to run into the car so I closed it quickly but his leg got caught so he was pulling it as I released the window and he fell onto the road. I can only hope he had some web hanging from the car and pulled himself back in otherwise I don't think he would've made it across the lane of traffic to the kerb.

Finally got to Phillip Island at 7:30pm exhausted. We found our caravan park over in the quiet end of the island, watched some TV (both internet and TV reception were good), cooked dinner, showered and passed out.
