Don't think we did too much on Tuesday. I still hadn't been able to get Craig's CT scan organised so we decided just to head in there in person and sort it out and we did no problem and managed to get it booked for just before his MRI scan on Friday. That then allowed me to notify the specialist that all tests would be done by Friday. But Monday is a public holiday here so we don't get to see him till Tuesday but at least everything is lined up now.
We visited a few camping stores and got very excited when we saw a bargain TV in BCF. I'd tried on two occasions to get reception and could only reach HD channels and our TV is too old for that. Fortunately before buying, we came home and Craig suggested I try our TV one more time - and it was perfect! Then I realised that both times I'd tried we'd been in an area with pretty poor reception. Lucky break!
On Wednesday we decided to head into the city and along the waterfront. It was nice to revisit previous haunts from when we visited five years ago when Clive and Jo were up here. We'd a beautiful lunch at the Oyster Bar and a walk around the waterfront then a drive through the city once again remembering restaurants and bars we'd visited previously.
Then we meandered through a couple of suburbs including Fannie Bay before heading back to the van. It was State of Origin night so we'd arranged to go along to Gary and Janice's where we were doing a combo tea and indulging in a cocktail or two. I'd bought buffalo wings and BBQ chicken wings from Lennards so Craig cooked them on the Ziggy, Janice made an amazing seafood salad. Gary and David had been out fishing for most of the day and had a good catch so we also had some awesome fish bites. But we kicked off with nibbles first along with Janice's special Espresso Martinis. The only disappointing thing about the night was Queensland's hammering in the State of Origin.
On Thursday we decided to head out to Humpty Doo as we'd heard the pub there did a good lunch. And it did - I'd a beautiful chicken salad and Craig sampled a Croc burger - our first taste of crocodile - but it was in a patty and very heavily spiced so you couldn't really work out what the croc tasted like. We called into Howard Springs on the way back and had a walk around the nature reserve there then back to the van.
Yesterday I went to see Kylie the manager about extending our stay at the reserve. They're ridiculously busy and it was touch and go whether she could fit us in. But she's a legend and said she could give us another week but we'd need to move site within the next couple of days - or even better that day. Gary and David had gone fishing but Janice helped us move site - only about five sites further down but actually much nicer with beautiful afternoon shade. We just loaded all the outside stuff in the back of the car and transported it down, awning in, windows shut and hitched her up and moved down. Incredibly easy really.
We'd been talking about going to an all you can eat seafood restaurant and so Janice got on the case and got us a booking for 5.30 that night. Meanwhile Craig and I went off to get his scans done. That all went pretty well though for the MRI he had to keep his palm facing upwards for 15 mins while they did the scan which caused a fair bit of pain to his shoulder.
We got home and quickly changed and Gary and Janice picked us up at 5pm and off we went to Seafood on Cullen.
We had a beautiful meal - once again lots of oysters and prawns. We did think it was good we'd booked early - the first sitting when the restaurant opened - as we noticed they took their time refilling some of the platters and I reckon if you were booked later you wouldn't have had such a good choice as we had.
We were home not long after 8 and Gary and Janice and David came down for a night cap. (Cheryl was looking after their granddaughter in the city) and I think it was around 10.30 before we all headed to bed.
Today has been very lazy so far. We didn't get up till after 9 then I had a shower and washed my hair. I went over to see Janice mid morning so see if she would charge my laptop as they're on a powered site and we're not. I can charge it in the car 240v outlet if we're going for a decent drive but we weren't planning to today. So of course then I stayed for coffee and noticed when I left that the washing machines were both empty - something that doesn't happen often as they're free - first site where we've had that. So I came back and got the laundry bag and popped on a load. So we've now had lunch, the washing is on the line under the awning and you're all up to date on our adventures.

My porridge breakfast and coffee is going to seem very unexciting after reading and seeing your food and drink photos! Great that Craig has had his scans and hoping it’s good news on Tuesday. Darwin is looking really well - I didn’t get any photos when I was there 35 years ago as the film hadn’t been loaded properly in my camera. Sadly I remember remarkably little about my brief stop there. Have a good weekend xxx

Golly, you two live the hard life don't you? Bahaha!!! Happy to hear Craig is going to be OK, try the frozen pea bag on any shoulder pain. Could work! I am feeling wonderfully well after Vitamin B12 shot last Tuesday.
