Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya
 
Here is the SEVENTH and for now LAST of the;
'Uncle Shane Do You Eat Pigs Eyes, Chicken Feet & Bat Wings for Snax' entries.
 
Besides eating Insects, Dogs, Cats, Rats, Bats and anything else that once moved I sometimes manage to squeeze in some normalish snacks when I'm feeling a tad peckish.
 
Almost all of them are found on the typical Chinese three wheeler portable snack shop or eatery. For those who have never been any where in Asia this simply means a three wheeled bike that has been modified into some type of 'portable eatery'. Some can be found grouped together on the same corner most days and/or nights and others travel around the place from hour to hour to find where the hungriest crowds are.    
 
Those who have been to China will understand when I say that food and eating is pretty much a HUGE part of the Chinese life style. For those who haven't visited China then there really isn't much I can say as unless you have been here it really is too hard to comprehend
 
What I mean by this is, I know you think you know how much they can eat!
But the fact is you really don't have any idea!
 
They spend hours preparing it and they then spend hours eating it.
What they do during the in between hours is the reason for this and the following blogs.
 
The Chinese simply snack!
 
Snacks are on every street corner of every city, town and village and don't even get me started on what can be found near bus or train stations and market places. After a huge meal that consists of about twenty courses and a billion bottles of beer, before heading to the next destination my friends will usually head for the nearest corner for snacks!
 
I can't do anything but simply shake my head in disbelief...it's all about SNAX!
 
TODAY
 
Today's menu of snax begins with a Snax that can be found in almost every city and town in most countries, Bakery Snax. Like in all bakery's here we can get a large range of different types of bread but sadly most have been sweetened for the Chinese sweet tooth and believe me it really drives most foreigners crazy!
 
Also we can get a huge range of buns that have been filled with all sorts of 'stuff' that one would never expect to find in a bun, except for in China!
 
Second on today's menu of Snax is a chicken hot pot for two. When you are not starving or still have a little more room to fill why not head to the Chicken Pot. Along with chicken you get to choose from a list of delicious fresh vegetables to add to your boiling hot pot.

As usual I skipped the chicken foot and allowed Joyce to happily munch away on it!
 
Next are another of my 'quick time' favourite Snax. This one can be found just around the corner from my school and I'm sure they have a huge jar of vegemite hidden away in the little Portable Snackery. I have no idea what is in these ones but they really do have a vegemite taste about them and for an Aussie Roo from the Land Down Under, that is one hell of a bloody good find mate!
 
Different types of these can be found all over China!
Pretty much, make the dough and then stick it to the inside wall until cooked!
 
The fourth Snax on today's Snax menu can be found in all Chinese Restaurants of the world.   You can have them fried or in a light soup. Won tons my friend, where would we be without them! When winter finally gave in and headed Down Under to bother my family and friends instead of me I stopped making my hearty noodle soups at home.
 
Each morning I now rise and shine an hour earlier and head out for a big bowl of Won Ton soup and then make my merry way along the river. Morning time is a special time here in China and one that takes quite a bit to get used to. I don't see it that often as I prefer the night so when I do join the silly buggers who rise before eight or nine each time I find a wonderful experience.
 
In all parks and gardens, along river banks and even on street corners you will find groups of people gathered together to start the day by doing some form of exercise. Together they do Tai Chi, all types of dances that include line dancing, the waltz and an assortment of traditional dances, they gather and sing 'stuff' that hurts my ears and sometimes makes me dizzy for a second or two, they run, they jog and for me some painfully walk slower than a snail.
 
I am serious!
I do believe that the Chinese have to be the slowest walkers in the world!
 
That is why we have the Facebook Site 'I seriously want to punch slow walking people in the back of the head'. Even when I'm walking at a slow and relaxing pace I somehow feel I am almost running, not even jogging mind you but running. It really can drive you insane as they walk in groups and spread themselves over the road or the sidewalk and make it impossible to pass. It makes me want to install a horn on my forehead or to simply punch the slow walking people in the back of the head!
 
Ok, where were we?
Oh yeah, Snax and other yummy delights!
 
The second last Snax on today's menu are an assortment of little biscuits. I never have any idea what I will find inside and even after biting into them most of the time I still have no idea what it is that is in there. Luckily for me, most of the time what ever it is is actually delicious. Usually they can be found on a market street and usually you will have a large range to choose from.
 
If you are like me, you simply choose the ones that LOOK delicious!
 
Lastly and the most delicious and fun of all the Snax found here in my little mountain city is the KTV Whisky Snax. Found in a test tube and mixed with green tea these little Drink Snax become rather addictive after the first rack is finished. They also have a tendency to create all sorts of havoc in the room you are in, especially after many empty bottles can be found lying forgotten in the corner.

And you did read right!
They honestly mix whisky with green tea!
