Saturday's Grand Seafood Dinner

 
During the high season the Hilton offers diverse dining options in its 5 indoor and outdoor restaurants but this month February, when I visited I had the option of dining three times at the Oceana and once at the Blue Elephant


AWARDS: The Oceana received several awards in the past. 

A recent one comes from the 'Definitively Good Guide Restaurant Award Winner 2016. 

This restaurant as well as the Blue Elephant were two among a few more to win award plates. 
Chosen from the highest rated restaurants, both overall, and in the various price categories for Malta and Gozo, taking into account not only the Overall rating but also individual Food, Service and Ambience ratings, the number of people rating, value for money, comments and other data from the survey.


 
TASTING EXPERIENCE: I was here in the capacity of a Food critic and I had the chance during my stay to meet and talk with the talented Chefs who arranged that I try an array of signature dishes and flavours, the taste experience of which I comment below:


 
ATMOSPHERE: The tranquil ambiance and exciting décor embraces guests in a convivial and lively setting


 

FIRST EVENING: A couple of hours after landing in Malta and driven at the Hilton, that first Saturday night my friend and I found ourselves lost for choice out here. You see on Saturday nights Chefs design this unique buffet which is also popular with locals (Maltese nationals).


The grand Buffet features a selection of market fresh seasonal seafood including oysters, prawns, squid and many more with a variety of the kitchen's signature salads, selection of delicious hot dishes and desserts from the pastry Chef.

 
Being a person who is very much after a la cart choices, I admit I had second thoughts before coming here but realized how wrong I was afterwards.



 
BEVERAGE: We paired our meal with white wine (a glass each) I can’t remember the two different brands . Although mine was a few euro more expensive I did not find it that interesting but I remember my friend paid €18.00 for the two glasses.


 
FOOD: Blending exquisite flavours with fresh seafood, the Chefs and their talented culinary team amaze diners’ taste buds every Saturday evening. The sumptuous spread offers an epicurean experience unlike any other. Whether chilled, grilled, sautéed or seared, the enticing dishes are sure to please every gourmand.

Our choice that first evening was seafood from the cooking station that was prepared in minutes before our eyes, a lovely experience not to be missed!

SERVICE: The Manager, Sean Walker with the Supervisor Araceli on all three nights provided a level of highly professional yet friendly service that would be hard to beat. Both helped making the time we were in the restaurant a memorable event.

ON THE WHOLE: An amazing experience, great service and tasty choices!
