Saint Julian's, Island of Malta, Malta

Tasting Experience from the A la carte menu .

Less guests tonight as most of them were here for the Sunday Lunch which happens to be very popular.

This Sunday evening I am to meet Ryan Marmara the Executive Sous Chef out here where we arrange that I have the first Tasting Experience on signature dishes that we chose together, and the Chef prepared and presented himself.

Portions in my photos are smaller just as I requested since I mostly nibble.

ATMOSPHERE: Soft music, less guests, beautiful interior created the unique atmosphere.

SERVICE: The whole meal was further enhanced by the superb service from the ever attentive Manager of the restaurant, Sean, and the Supervisor Ara both a credit to themselves and to the hotel.

BEVERAGE: The wine choice this second evening -the Terre Allegre Bianco. I was not thrilled the least with the taste I have to admit, however the two other choices I was recommended to have were unfortunately similar so finally I decided to have this to save time as the dishes started coming in. €17.00.

The culinary trip to tastes started with the most exquisite Lobster Bisque Soup . Smooth and velvety and full of flavour the soup was super yummy! (Ricotta lobster and walnuts, black olive brioche) €15.00.

The Chicken and Porcini Mushroom Risotto was just as excellent as the previous option. Porcini mushrooms with their earthy, meaty flavour paired perfectly with the chicken.

Chevre cheese adds taste but what pushed the boat out was the drizzle of truffle with its superb aroma. The final taste was luscious! €15.00.

Pan Fried Octopus was another nice choice, nicely sorted, every bite mouthwatering! (On a carpet of octopus, cauliflower floret, roasted garlic, slices of guanciale, basil, soya beurre noisette) €17.50.

Green Grilled Asparagus presented along with Poached egg, buttered spinach leaves and oyster mushrooms, coated with Hollandaise sauce was what we had next

This dish could have been an excellent choice for breakfast instead. I had the asparagus and mushrooms only, but my friend who had it all enjoyed it. €18.00.

DESSERT: For the end I had a Lemon Mint sorbet to clean the palate, and opted for the Carved Seasonal Fruit platter that included mango and raspberry coulis. It was the best light option I guess!

My friend loved her choice. Having a sweet tooth she opted for the Baked Chocolate Fondant. Soft and flavoursome perhaps the best she ever had, she said. (Raspberry and white chocolate popsicle gianduia ice cream) A promising choice for chocolate fans.
