Everybody loves Amitabh Bachchan

Sasan Gir National Park, Gujarat, India
Yes I know 90% of India does , but here is another angle to the liking.

Amitabh Bachchan is now even more liked by Gujaratis after he became Gujarat's "brand ambassador". If you live in India, you surely have come across some ad or the other of him promoting Gujarat tourism. “Breathe in a bit of Gujarat” – in his baritone voice ……

Well, he apparently came to Gir to visit the place. Off he went on a game drive and saw nothing. He dutifully went for a second time and still saw nothing. The authorities were in a desperate state. They reportedly offered to stake a lion out, perhaps entice with bait, etc etc. Nothing doing said the good Mr Bachchan. He would try and see the lion just as any visitor would. His three day stay came to an end. Still no lion. He extended his stay by two more days refusing to give up. Fourth day come and the score was nil. Finally on the fifth day, out came His Majesty and presented himself to the darling of Gujarat.

The story is told more than once to every visitor – of how “humble” and “nice” the great Amitabh was. If you are a fan, you are going to love it. If you are not, you are probably going to dismiss it. Either way, I thought I should tell you ………..

How long did you have to wait for seeing his / her majesty of the jungle?

The best part of your travel is Ramesh to see so many updates from you. Keep em coming and I am enjoying this :-)

He gets paid a fortune for being the brand ambassador. but this is quite an interesting story.

yes, and i also want to know how much time his majesty took to come and salute your highness - Equally Majestic (infact more) than Amitabh Bachan and in reality - a synonym for the word Humility in English.

See, even the shahenshah of jungle acknowledges and knows who the blog's ville shahenshah is. No wonder he did'nt keep you waiting.

My friend went for the amitabh's much publicized kutch festival and said there was no white sand and it was all salt. She said"Kutch mein kuch nahin".

And did you get to hear the roar or see one for real? The Gir forests apparently have while lions?

@Asha - Wow - I am preening from the allusion :):)

@Vinod - No white lions I'm afraid - yes saw 3 or 4, which is a good tally in Gir. And yes, one of them roared - the rest were sleeping.

What do the Gir Lions feed on? sweet dal? mutthia?wildebeast? buffalos? buntus?steak or stake?

Did you see any Lionesses, the Lions merely roar, the lioness goes for the kill

@Usha - Hey wonderful to see you here . Well, I suspect deer accompanies by sweet dhal :):)

The Indian lion isn't a lazy bum as I noted in a subsequent post. He hunts himself - isn't served by his harem
