Mexico: 23 Destinations to Spend the Winter Months

San Miguel de Allende - Real Estate
(Part 3 of 3)
The publication mentioned in the previous blog http://www.infosma.com is a great source about San Miguel in general and real estate in particular. Just click on the "real estate" links and browse.
Another great link is http://www.imprint-sma.com
It is the link to Su Casa (Your Home) and it advertises itself as a magazine devoted to foreigners interested in renting or buying real estate in SMA.
Of particular interest are the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) as they answer important questions about SMA and Mexico in general.
The link also contains many real estate listings and links to real estate agents. The website interface may take a while to figure out but it is quite impressive.
In no other destination did I find publications like the above two to make the task of finding appropriate real estate to buy or rent so accessible, but then this is San Miguel de Allende, a city with a 10,000 expat population.
During our stay in San Miguel de Allende we wanted to visit at least one real estate development to get some idea of prices and what was available for the new condo buyer.
This was our impetus for visiting Puente Viejo Residencial that is located within walking distance of the center of SMA. The sales representative was Silvia Estefan Karam who gave us a tour of the beautiful project as well as the all important price list.
I also took quite a number of photos of the project, as it was my intent to obviously publish the photos in my blog. Unfortunately this is one time I definitely have to say that the photos have been lost somehow in the process of changing memory chips and subsequently erasing photos. So there are no photos, and I will not try to replace them with a million words.
Fortunately the website for this project (http://www.puenteviejo.com) is well done and slick in its presentation giving an abundance of information about San Miguel de Allende as well as the project of course.
Make sure you have a look as well at the video should you be interested in the real estate side of San Miguel.
At the very bottom of the home page are some "Interesting Links" worth looking at.
Contrary to appearances I have no pecuniary interest in this project and I include this information in the belief that it may provide a basis of comparison to anyone thinking about buying real estate in SMA.
There is one important piece of information missing on the website and that is prices. Again I have to revert to the word "lost". Yes, I lost the price list so memory will have to serve me well or maybe badly. The two bedroom, corner, 1227 sq. feet, luxury condo we were looking at sold for $244,000 U.S. Being SMA I expected the price to be higher.
For more precise information contact Silvia Estefan Karam, who likes practicing her English and who was the pleasant agent who showed us around. She can be reached at: sestefann@hotmail.com
