This morning we started with a breakfast buffet in our oceanfront hotel. The restaurant on the second floor had a panaroma view of the ocean. Before check out I went to the upper floors to see the view. The top floor had gym set up in the hallway with treadmills facing the glass window ocean view. There was a small lounge area in the hallway also. The floor below had a bar in the same hallway which opens nightly so nightly scenic views but also quite clear during the day.

Our first stop was the mysterious road . So called as cars magically roll upwards. I had visited this on my first trip and the trick is that the topography is lopsided giving the impressing of rolling upwards when in reality it is rolling down. It was very misty and some lingering drizzle from the night before. There were very tall trees where groups of hikers were entering a trail.

We went to Sangumburi Crater which is a large asteroid crater formed hundreds of years ago. Jeju has another 'sunrise peak' crater 'Seongsan Ichulbung' which is the more famous where people go to watch the sunrise. I had visited that one during my first trip in may and overlooked this one as didnt think it would be as interesting.

In fact I actually preferred this of the two craters. First of all there a variety of many layers of foilage stretching into the distance making for very scenic views. The crater is a short walk and very easy to get to. The entire interior of the crater is covered in foilage making for a beautiful green basin . The buildings around are made from lava rocks and covered with lava ash on the roof.

We then drove past a windfarm to one of Jeju's orange orchard's for which the island is famous. Our next stop was the Kim Young Gap art gallery. He was a photographer who came from the mainland in the early 80s, fell in love, and spent the rest of his life here till he died recently. He would take many landscape photos, sometimes with him in the nude as he wanted to feel part of the nature around him. He tried to photograph the breezes and would spend ours or days waiting for the perfect shot.

For lunch we went to a picturesque korean restaurant. I didnt know how many courses there were and food kept coming. Deceptively you eat in the earlier courses as you are hungry, then too many more courses keep coming, so you end up completely stuffed. I dont remember all of what I ate, there was a seafood soup, fried fish, tempura vegetables, and many other dishes.
