After School Detention

Another friday class was so rowdy and out of control. I basically couldnt teach the lesson. I had to tell one boy to go outside the classroom. I named him 'jumbo' as he is double the size of all the grade 1 students. This class has progressively got worser each week and the co-teacher wasnt present in class as they were supposed to be.

With 15 mins left of class and unable to conduct the lesson I had to think of what can I do to bring them under order . I dismissed the good students till I was left with the bad ones when the bell rang. As they all wear name tags I took down each of their names. Then I reported them to their homeroom teacher again.

What we devised is the next week they will come everyday after school to clean the class. We told them a lie that if they dont come the principal will phone their parents and tell them to come to school. Even staying after school they are still hyper but I'm getting them to do some manual labour so we'll see how the week progresses.

They did all come for the week but they thought it was play time and enjoyed running around the class with brooms after school when I was trying to bring them under order again. I narrowed it down to four bad kids. I told them I was taking the photo to show the Principal who was going to phone their parents.

One kid got mad, threw his shoe at the door and just walked out. Friday class two of them were better behaved. The remaining two we told them they are being put on watch and this is the last warning before we phone the parents.

Another day three kids were going to be late for class as their hair was longer than school regulation allows and they were having their hair cut by a teacher. Expecting three girls to walk in I was surprised to see three grumpy faced boys show up for class, and I dont remember their hair being long to begin with.

Recently a bad kid yelled 'f***ing s** of a b****'! when he left the class because he didnt get candy for being bad. Good to know they are recognizing english phrases and learning how to articulate them!
