Minsk, Belarus

Leaving the Stalin Line I'd asked Tatanya to drop me by two churches near the National Library. She had mentioned them to me yesterday and I looked them up on google maps and google images.

They are very impressive and unique in their design. I dont know why they dont appear on any tourist maps.

The big white church reminded me of Stupa style temples in Asia. Unfortunately it was closed for restoration work so I dont know what the interior is like.

Adjacent to the big white church is a smaller older timber wood church. This was more like the Stave wood churches in Norway.

Why these two churches do not appear on any tourist guides I have no idea. It was a great tip from my guide and worth a visit.

I walked to the main street to reach the National Library. This is futuristic hexagonal shape like a space capsule. The apartments around had many murals along the side.

Taking the metro back I returned to the central interchange station.

Tatanya had suggested I goto the National Art Museum. Entrance was 12 RB ($9) and did not appear to interest me. I walked further down to the National Historical Museum of Belarus which was only 5 BR ($3.75) and more in line with my interests.

After I got a kebab for 5.50 BR ($4). I was back in my apartment by 3pm and needed to rest. I did my online check in for my departure tomorrow. My window seat had been bumped again after all the reassurance at Warsaw at the LOT counter coming that my seats were ok.

There were interesting Soviet arts and dance music shows.
