Sightseeing Airport Bus thru Minsk

Minsk, Belarus

This morning my two week adventure was ending and I had a 3pm flight back home via Warsaw on LOT Polish Airlines. I discovered the couch in the room with the tv opens up into a sofa bed so I decided to sleep there for the tv and since I was up at strange hours not sleeping.

I was up from 5am and they were showing an old UK show from the 70s Black Beauty which we watched as kids.

The apartment management kept texting me when I was leaving. I told them to come by 11. I waited around and nobody came so I left by 10.45. Leaving the apartment there was drizzle for the first time during this trip when I had beautiful clear skies in Belarus the entire time.

In the metro as I had my bags they wanted me to scan them. Something showed up on the monitor looking like a hydrogen bomb in miniature. We went thru my bag trying to figure out what this odd looking object was but couldnt.

Next to the central railway station is the bus station. I was trying to find the minivans that I came from the airport on but didnt see any. There was a regular city airport bus to the airport.

The minivans were 4 BR ($3) and I had exact change to run out my coins before I left. The bus for some odd reason was 4.05 BR. I had to break a 5 BR and get .95 back in change which I didnt want.

The bus was an amazing sightseeing tour all thru Minsk as a final farewell as I left. We passed back up the main st past the Red Church, KGB Building, and GUM Dept store to Lenina St where my apartment was.

Continuing up the main blvd we passed by October Square, Victory Square, and Yakub Kolas Square, the length of which I had walked down on Monday.

I was on the wrong side of the bus to see the futuristic National Library. The bus ride was an hour to the airport and we were in open forest outside the city.

The approach road to the terminal had several parked jet planes from prior decades. I wanted to walk back to take pics but security wouldnt allow foot traffic on the road.
