A lazy day in Colmar

Colmar, Grand Est, France
We were grateful for the fan being on overnight, otherwise I doubt that we would have slept much!  The church bells chimed hourly throughout the night, but I only registered them once or twice. After Michael’s morning run and breakfast, we set off to explore the town. As Michael had been asked to draw a perspective for a client in Australia who was convinced that he wouldn’t be able to win the job without Michael’s sketch, we were also on a mission to find a store that sold art supplies. The internet was very helpful in identifying the appropriate bookstore/stationery shop. With paper, pens, pencils, ruler and eraser in hand, we finished our exploration of the town and headed back to the apartment, happy to be out of the intense heat for the hottest part of the day.
In search of some news updates from the outside world, I started at channel 1 on the TV. Finally, at channel 98, I found an English speaking station — continuous news that tends to repeat itself every hour or so. I later discovered that I could have looked on the provided print out of TV stations and found the English-speaking station much more quickly!
We ventured out again late in the afternoon to do some more shopping and explore a little further. Salmon fillets, potatoes and salad were on Michael’s menu for the evening — delicious! I spent some time uploading more photos to my travel blog, and then we called it a day. It was really great to have slowed down and rested after being on the go for the last 4 weeks!

Well, you did take a large number of different housed lining the streets of Cobar. Thanks for the interesting record of what I presume is the old section of Cobar or are all the houses in Cobar like this?

Sounds like the quieter day helped with providing a chance to catch your breath and get a few pressing things done

Thank you for following our adventures, Jo! It certainly does have some beautiful buildings — these photos were all taken in the old town, Dad. The further out you go, the more modern and less interesting the buildings become. The population is over 70,000. xxx
