ULURU
Sunrise: Left at 6:15 for the half hour drive to the carpark.
Tons of people on the platform to watch as sunrise "transforms Uluru's grey silhouette to rich red hues" when the light hits it.
Walked along the path to edge of desert for different views.

Kuniya Walk-- short walk to the Mutitjulu waterhole, home of a wanampi, an ancestral watersnake. Also to a cave the Anangu people stayed in when traveling; some rock art in the caves. Great Spot! Weather is cool in am--mid 60's then hot by 1:00.
Drove back to hotel for Breakfast Buffet. GREAT omelets (best ever), french toast, pancakes, pastries, fruit, etc.
KATA TJUTA NATIONAL PARK
36 domed heads.
Walpa Gorge Walk -- Walpa means ‘windy’ in Yankunytjatjara. Nice breeze today, which made it cooler than we expected. The walk is on the mountain surface with very uneven rocks. Several pretty rock pools. The end is right between two towering domes. Favorite hike!
===================================================
By 2:00 it was hot in the sun (86 degrees). Back to hotel; rested couple hours.

TJUNGU FESTIVAL --The meeting or coming together in Pitjantjatjara, the Indigenous culture. Four days of events in the town square, which is right next to the hotel. Today we saw the traditional welcome to the country by local Anangu women and Senior Elders Alison Hunt and Murray George. Cultural Markets where Indigenous artists showcase their work. Lots of music.

FIELD OF LIGHT art installation by artist Bruck Munro. Twelve acres of more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with frosted-glass spheres "bloom" at dark while you walk along the pathways under the sky brilliant with stars. Took 25 volunteers and 10 technicians 5 weeks to set this up.
Bus pickup at hotel; drove to top of a hill. The view of the light display below on the desert floor with Uluru in the background was magnificent. Served drinks and appetizers containing crocodile, emu, and kangaroo meat. Colorful sunset even though much of it was blocked by trees.

The light display as it became dark was phenomenal! About 1.5 hours to enjoy walking among this incredible display. A unique experience with man-made lights on ground and mother nature above with a star-filled sky.
NIGHT SKY-- When we got back to the hotel, the stars were incredible.
Got in the car and drove away from the town's lights, pulling off the road to photograph the night sky. The galaxy of stars is so amazing; from horizon to horizon millions of stars--mesmerizing!
