Pacific Rim NP - Long Beach
Alone on the beach in the Morning
Gine woke up and when peeking outside saw blue sky: that means it is time to get up and down to the beach. Beautiful sunshine and no one around – the whole long beach alone. It was gorgeous – walking down towards the rocks – climbing up and around – exploring all the little inlets and tidepools – it was amazing – what an incredible beach.
Coming back Paul is up too and it’s time for breakfast. With weather this nice we decided a beach day is on the agenda.
Can we walk the length of long beach?
We meet with Sue, Doug and Kingston in the parking lot to spend a day together at long beach. As where Doug and Kingston go boogie surfing – we went to walk towards the north end of the beach – around the incinerator rock and even further out to a sand back and back around the rocks and up on the rocks – it was super cool and so much fun. Sue checked we did walk all together 3.8 km – and we didn’t even reach the end of the beach in one way – not even talking about the other way – but then we are at the longest beach of the west coast.
Why is it called Long Beach?
  • It is the longest beach on the West coast in the pacific rim NP
  • There are a few little islands you can walk around during low tide
A lot of sun at Long Beach
After all this walking it was time to relax in the warm sand – and today it was not even that windy. Once we got hot we walked towards to the water and put our feet in the freezing cold water and had the cold wind blowing over us – once cooled off we could go back onto the hot sand. As where we were lazy Doug and Kingston were in and out of the water. And around 4 pm we all felt that we had plenty of sun and we needed a break – that means we headed all back to our campgrounds. By the way – when you look around that beach you have the feeling in you are in some tropical paradise – but as soon as you put your feet in the water you know you are not.
A shade break at Green point
Back at the campsite it was quite cool in the forest – perfect for the deserved cooldown, after a coffee Gine decided to check out the viewpoint which by the way is all the way to the other end and from there you walk even further to 3 benches: but disappointingly the view was not that spectacular…. We also decided to have an early supper so we can head for:
Sunset at Long Beach
Back at the day use – we set up again and watched people surfing – the sun setting – some mist hanging close to the ground – the waves crashing: it was super cool. As where Gine needed a sweater and a towel because of the fresh wind – Paul was there in his swimshorts only (what a show off!!) Today we had a perfect beach day and we are bone tired.
