Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
Namaste,

The three hours busrite to Anuradhapura costed me 110 rp. I was picked up at the busstation by a three-wheeler and brought to hotel Boa vista. A clean hotel run by a Canadian-Sri Lankan couple. The location close to Tesa Wewa and the Royal Pleasure gardens is a bonus and there is a good view on the lake.

The next day I hired a bicycle to explore Anuradhapura and the ancient city.I started at the Ruvanvelisaya Dagoba which is guarded by a wall with a frieze of hundreds of elephants standing shoulder to shoulder. After that I walked to Sr Maha Bodhi. This huge sacred tree is one of the most important places in Sri Lanka because a Buddhist prince was enlightned under this tree. Afer the Thuparama and Jetvanarama Dagoba I visited Kuttam Pokuna (Twin ponds).
