Bangkok, Thailand

Next day I decided to go to Nonthaburi instead of Ayutthaya as I wanted to take it easy and relax in Bangkok, I took the Chao Phrya express boat from Si Phrya pier which is next to
Royal Orchid Sheraton. There were many locals on the boat going to Nonthaburi, the Thai`s have great respect for Monks and the Monks have separate sitting areas in the Chao Phrya express boat.

The ferry ride was nice and it stopped at few stops on the way, the river boat is good way of seeing places in a different angle, I walked around the town, market and got fresh flower garland. The market was buzzing on Saturday morning, there were many sea food restaurant and street hawkers in Nonthaburi. I bought some cakes and loaves of bread for the disabled from the big bakery opposite the market and I had my two rounds of coconut water. The fares were under a pound for return journey by ferry; A very cheap day out :)
When I returned back to the hotel the ferry was all full but I got a nice seat, there are many stops on the way, I rested for some time in my room before taking taxi for shopping. The deputy manager rang me up to see if I was feeling better and if I needed tea or anything, she gave me excellent advice on shopping.

         Shops / Malls

I took a taxi to the Platinum mall and the taxi was no problem as the doorman at the hotel arranged it with the meter on taxis are cheap in Bangkok . The shopping centres were all very crowded with many young locals, I walked the skywalk between the malls to MBK and I saw the Erawan Shrine, which is located on the corner of the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel near the Chit Lom stop on the skytrain that has an elevated walkway overlooking the shrine. The area has many shopping malls nearby, including Central World and Amarin Plaza.
It consists of a golden statue of the four-faced Hindu god Brahma. The statue sits beneath a glittering shrine. The area is crowded with worshippers and they offer flowers, incense and candles. There were little stalls selling the items and I bought flower garland to offer Brahma. I saw beautiful classical dancers there and one lovely dancer agreed to have her picture taken,
I even saw people bowing as we passed by in the skytrain.

                MBK Mall

MBK Mall has 7 floors and you get almost anything there, there are even food courts here and you can easily spend many hours and ££ £ here, I bought 6 pair of shoes, 4 housecoats and few souvenirs which I got it at a very good price. Shopping was fun and suddenly I felt so much better.. Nothing like Retail Therapy !!

The traffic was chocker blocked on Saturday evening so I took the sky train to Saphan Taksin, from there I caught the free hotel Shuttle boat back to hotel. The free hotel shuttle boat is one of the nicest looking boat on the river and runs every half hour, from Saphan Taksin pier it is less then 5 mins walk to BTS Sky station. At Saphan Taksin Pier whilst I was waiting for my free shuttle at 10 pm, I enjoyed watching floating boat restaurant and chef cooking which was operating on the pier. For many young Thai`s it was night out on Saturday. This was very interesting :) I enjoyed the shuttle ride at night and i chatted with people staying in the hotel.
