Orewa, North Island, New Zealand
Here now in New Zealand at Linda's place. Beautiful summer weather here in the Southern hemisphere. Job is to walk on the beach daily and to disperse Linda's household effects.

Flight over interesting! Air new Zealand wanted the Canadians on board and the NZ visitors not to forget the cold in Canada so had the temp set at FREEZING!! See photo with Sharon with 3 layers on and bundled up in two blankets . The lady next to her the same and the guy in the background with his parka and toque. While i was in the biffy hear a loud crash and opened the door to find a guy passed out from "hypothermia" (my diagnoses), blocking the door and the flight attended lady telling me to get back in the biffy as she had it under control. Wife says he does this all the time. Fortunately there was an Emerg Dr lady on board that dressed his head wound and i dismissed myself by saying i was retired and he was in good hands.

Already have had our walk on one of the nicest beaches in the world this am. More photos to come. Stay tuned.

Jan 18 Saturday: Garage Sale Day:
We had no time to advertise-- just put signs on the main road then at our lane when we were ready to open. Within an hour some Tongans whose family in Holopeka Village that had experienced Cyclone Ian this week, saw the sign. They were looking for second hand furniture and household goods to fill a container to send over this week-- and pretty much cleaned us out! Fair price for things too . Other neighbours stopped by too, the kids all enjoying the "free table", and by 2:30 we were about done!

So on Wed all Linda's household goods will be on a ship bound for Holopeka in Tonga, where only one house is left standing! Had we waited a few extra days to come as we had contemplated, we would have "missed the boat"! We can't help but see the Lord's fingerprints on this, as the timing was amazing, and to see the stuff go to such a good cause was gratifying. It takes the edge off the sadness of it. Sharon spoke to Linda and told her, and she was pleased too.

Invited the Tongans to send a couple of their people who would make good trainers to the TOT training we will be doing here this weekend at the local Baptist Church. Who knows, this could be the entry into a new country, Tonga. Look at the photos of the devastation at

The Church seen here is one in the area. All her furniture went to the homes, and her keyboard and Christian books went to the church to rebuild their library.
