To Menton and Monaco

Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azu, France
This day has been our coolest and cloudiest yet, but we put on jackets and headed for the train to Menton. Paul and I were last here 8 years ago hosting a Metronome group and I have been anxious to get back. We didn't have a lot of time but we walked the Main Street parallel to the water and went into the covered market. Here we bought fresh ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach, and bought some fresh pesto to go with it. I also bought some green pepper pate for happy hour. We walked through the vielle ville and climbed up to the church. Then climbed to our favourite vantage point, the old cemetery. It is such an interesting place with a view out over the old town to the sea.

After our lunch of Niçoise salad, we hopped back on the train to Monaco and walked for an hour trying to find the Monte Carlo casino . Once found, I was only going to walk around the outside, but Dorothy walked right up to the front door and in we went with no problem. I thought we had to be 'dressed' but it was fine. We have been here several times and this is the first time we have ever gone in (thank you Dorothy) and it is magnificent. Paul had a lot more fun outside taking pictures of the Lambourghinis, Rolls Royces, etc. Also, near the port they were setting up for the Grand Prix which is on next month.

We ended up near the port and had a huge hike up many stairs to find the train station again, and headed back to VF.

We had the ravioli for dinner and the pasta was so thin and delicious. Yummy! Good thing I don't live here!.
