Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azu, France
Cleared out beautifully overnight and the sky is bright blue. And warmer. The weather here has been very consistent...cool in the shade and tee shirt weather in the sun.

Every morning Paul has gone to the boulangerie to buy us fresh croissants for breakfast, bless his heart .

At 9:00 AM we met our guide to go to Gourdon and St Paul. We are the only ones on the tour and we are in a nice van. Caroline is our guide.

Both towns are medieval. Gourdon is perched 2200 feet above sea level and only 15 people live here. The church is is from the 10th C and the village is from the 12th.

St Paul is the second most visited town in France, after Mont St Michel. It is also on the top of a hill but not as dramatic as Gourdon. However it is really beautiful and has many tiny streets full of shops. Lots of art shops here as it is so popular with artists, since Chagall is buried here. Many artists came here, like Matisse and Picasso. We didn't have nearly enough time, only an hour so we will have to come back.

Our tour ended at 1:30 so we had a quick lunch and the started out for Cap Ferrat again, this time to see Villa Rothschild and the gardens. This is really worth a visit...the gardens are amazing. Dorothy and I both loved the villa as it was built by during the Belle Époque by a woman, Beatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild and definitely has a woman's touch.

Back to the apartment in time for a late happy hour and dinner. Shelley had given us a bottle of champagne so we cracked that. We bought a roasted chicken and it makes the ones from Sobeys seem sad. It was delicious!
