Villefranche-sur-Mer, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azu, France
Woke up to a glorious sky today. Paul did his routine of going for croissants. We had some lovely strawberries with yogurt out on the verandah and watched the comings and goings of the people on their boats.

Shelley arranged for our taxi at 10:30 ant the Nice airport was very quiet . Arrived in London at 2:00 and met up with Maija who had spent the week with David's cousins in the south of England. Homeward bound.

Over dinner last night we talked about all the things we love about Provence and the Riviera:

- rose and Cotes du Rhone
- fresh croissants in the morning
- St Agur creme
- the colour of the buildings, pink, yellow, orange and turquoise shutters
- 600 year old houses with modern interiors
- the perched villages
- the tiny restaurants with owners who treat you so nicely
- the flower markets and the weekly markets with the amazing foods
- the baskets for going to market
- Paul getting our daily croissants
- breakfast and happy hour on the verandah
- the azur colour of the sea
- gelato!
- baguette sandwiches
- the artistic presentation of the meals

And memorable experiences:
- a lovely group of fellow travellers and a wonderful tour guide, Maryse, and her trainees Becky
and Tina
- Maija, Dorothy, Paul and I squeezing into the tiny elevator in Avignon
- crowding into the back of the bus in Villefranche with no way to pay
- having our return train cancelled without warning in Eze
- almost getting robbed in Aix, all well thanks to Tina
- Codfish dinner our first night of the tour, in Arles
- stairs, stairs and more stairs in almost every town - great exercise
- loved the boutique hotels we stayed in, each one very different than the last
- the waiter walking around the restaurant with the tuna in La Belle Etoile
- popcorn on our duck in L'Aparte
- Pont d'Avignon in the moonlight
- the flamingoes and white horses in the Camargue
- Dorothy in her chef hat helping with preparations
- making our own perfume in Galimard
- the light show in the quarry
- the taste experience of wine and chocolate together at once
- the gardens and views at Villa Rothschild
- the Jardin Exotique the the top of Eze
