Rome, Latium, Italy
We finished packing, did the final clean up and washed sheets etc before we left at 10am. This gave us heaps of time to get to Cork – it is about a 2 hour drive and the flight was not until 3.45pm.

We went straight to the airport and printed out our boarding cards but the very nice person at the bag drop advised us not to leave our bags in this early because it is a small airport and it could end up on one of the other flights . He said 2pm would be early enough. We took his advice, loaded the bags back into the car and looked for a place for lunch.

We ended up going to a place called 'Fast Eddies', mainly because we saw it had wifi. It was set out like an American diner, red and white with booths. 60’s music was playing and on each table was a mini jukebox. The food was OK – better and cheaper than we would have had at the airport.

We then went back to return the car, take the shuttle to the airport and finish the check in. The only issue was a delay to the flight – we were told it would go at 4.30pm but they got us on quickly and did the fastest safety briefing we have ever heard. It was a budget flight so we had to pay for food and drink. For 16 euro (yep - sixteen euro) + taxes + baggage it was very good value for a 3 hour flight (Cork to Rome)

We wanted to be in the BnB before 10pm – they charge extra for late check in . So it was a pain to have to wait for ages before the bags from the flight were available. Add in the wait for the Leonardo Express and we were concerned we would be late. As it was we arrived about 1 minute after 10pm to a very nice welcome. The woman in charge was expecting us, told us we could do the proper check-in in the morning and arranged for someone to take us to our room.

It is a BnB, and in Rome, so not flash but clean and a reasonable size. Also the welcome was great and there is a lift so we didn’t have to cart bags up stairs. They have tea making facilities although no milk but there is a small fridge. The bed also had sheets (not confounded duvets)!! We are on the second floor above the office. We understand they have rooms also in other buildings. Breakfast will be on the 3rd floor from 8am to 10am tomorrow and we will be ready for it as we couldn’t be bothered going out again for tea although there were plenty of eating places open when we got in.
