Sunrise at Nea Makri

Nea Makri, Attica, Greece
All these three days that we are here I never managed to wake up that early to catch the sun coming out of the sea but I promised myself that I won't miss it this time.

So I am up much earlier and still very sleepy . I look out of the window only to see the faint colours behind the horizon, -it is dawn but Yianni tells me that the sun won’t be out earlier than another 45 minutes.

Oh my Lord! Am I going to stay awake all this time?

What am I doing now? I am afraid that if I return to bed I will surely sleep again and miss it. I pick a book and start reading but very soon I realize that I cannot concentrate much on the book and turn the light off close my eyes and try hard to stay awake.

To make story short, what I am doing all this time till the sun comes out, is coming and going from my bed to the curtain every 5 to 10 minutes.

The result of course is these few photos!

  • This is the last entry of this short trip to Attica till next time. The coming trip is going to be in Evia and is coming shortly.

Sunrises from our house are beautiful as well, and I scarcely miss them. I am up really early each morning. Otherwise if I don't I think I have lost half of the day. The beauty is in the morning, something that younger generations miss these days.

That's so funny! I can just picture you trying to stay awake so you wouldn't miss the sunrise. It's like waiting for the kettle to boil. Sunsets are much easier to wait for. I bet Yianni had a good laugh afterwards. Anyway..."who laughs last laughs longest"! It was worth the suffering. I hope you got another hour of so of sleep after this memorable event.

Yianni did not even bother to see the photos! He was half asleep I guess. And yes you are right. Sunsets are easier, but it was something that I wanted to do and nobody could stop me.
