Describing the Amazing Sunset of the Saronic Gulf

I will try to describe the sunset from our room ……

I always react strongly to the colors of the sky at sunset and love to capture moments and scenes that really show the power of nature . The significance of this moving landscape on our daily lives and emotions cannot be overestimated and when we now spend much more of our time indoors it is important not to shut it out of our lives to our detriment, as though these things don't matter.

I am concentrated more outside now leaving behind my work….I guess it is time to turn off the laptop. I don’t want to miss what is going on right this moment outside as the sun is setting behind the mountains of the island of Aegina across the sea. Suddenly there is this flock of birds making rounds and rounds disappearing and then coming back several times. I try to capture a few shots but seeing that the result is not what I expected I put my jacket on and get outside just to watch them flying from a closer point.

The sun is setting right now and instead of a playful sort of orange-yellow color it is almost a dark pink and red and yellow all jumbled together turning to crimson and gold…. I look straight at it and I don’t need to blink or look away. It is quite spectacular. My eyes see a green dot in front of them now and this because I could not resist watching the sun. I know it is bad for the eyes but I don’t see this every day!! It is almost amazing…in a perfect circle it shined! It was beautiful that even a picture wasn’t worth taking because there would be no possible way for the camera to capture the beauty. I am very disappointed with the result of my photos but on this entry I tried to give you the picture of the amazing sunset as better as possible!

Thanks for your comments guys…I hope you do like my next entry. It was a completely different sunset the following afternoon and I am finishing the entry by tomorrow. You will see totally other colors.
I tried to describe this one with words….but the one I captured the next day I won’t say much….a surprise!

I think the photos are fabulous but I truely understand your dissapointment. Somethings have to be experienced and a still shot even with a 1,000 words cannot put you exactly in that moment. This means that it is ment to be experienced by you and you alone. It is a magical moment that even if you cannot share it you will treasure it forever.
