Larnaca, Larnaca, Cyprus

LARNACA

My home town can be described as the resort with everything .
A major municipality, town and holiday resort all in one. A region that will amaze the visitor with its diversity and genuine hospitality of its people. There is a surprise in every corner waiting to be explored, discovered and enjoyed.

The quiet sea front of Larnaca, situated on the south-east cost of Cyprus, very near the international airport, is a perfect starting point from where the island can be explored, and especially the region with its endless choices close by. The whole district of Larnaca has indeed something special to offer the visitor.

Larnaca is one of the oldest cities in Cyprus. It combines the mysticism of the old era and the freshness of modern life.
Built near the seaside and enriched by beautiful beaches, one might think that it is only a summer resort, but it is not. It is a business centre and a town with many archaeological sites. There are 8 museums within walking distance from the centre. Its galleries and workshops are famous island wide .

People in Larnaca know how to enjoy life and a visitor can see a variety of restaurants, clubs, taverns, cafeterias and bars. The nightlife atmosphere is quite balanced, but still extremely exciting and offers all the romantic and nostalgic moments that one can desire, in absolute security.

The people in Larnaca live a peaceful and friendly life, and they are very hospitable. They will make you feel at home, and they are ready to help you as the majority can understand English well.

It has a mild climate in the winter, and since it is a seaside resort the summers are cooler compared to other places on the island.

Ideally situated only a few kilometres from the airport, Larnaca has become a thriving vibrant community.
In 1974 following the Turkish invasion and subsequent occupation of the North of Cyprus, Larnaca offered to accept 40.000 refugees.
These displaced persons tripled the population of the city to 65.000 inhabitants.

With great motorway links to all the coastal resorts and the capital Nicosia, the town is perfectly located for those wishing to visit the islands many places of interest.

"Skala" is my favourite place in CY when I think of a place to live in. If I were not based in Strovolos, Nicosia (which I really like...) I would definitely live in Larnaca. One of my dreams is to have a place there (a flat/ a house or the part of it) where I could stay while I get older. Thank you for this entry, Kaliope. Thank you very much.
