. With the camera in my hand I get pictures of older buildings that remind me of those years.

BRITISH COLONIAL STYLE

Many of the buildings in Larnaca are very old.
The British colonial type of architecture was introduced by the English in the years of their rule and was based on the vision of their central designing services and refers strictly to the public buildings of this period.

The best examples of this architecture are, "The District Governors building", The Old Customs Stores”, “The building of Cyprus Tourist Organization,” “The Central Police Station”, “The Governors Residence”, and “The Larnaca old Hospital” near the American Academy.

This is the anonymous architecture of Larnaca developed in the Ottoman times and was designed to serve the trading needs as well as the residential needs of the wealthy merchants of Larnaca

THE REX OLD CINEMA

. The owner had his storehouse and office on the ground floor and his family on the first, with the characteristic kiosk over the street for good ventilation and view.

The best surviving examples of this architecture in Larnaca are a) Ieronymos Varlm House on Chryssopolitissa Street, b) Efthimiades House at Nicolaou Laniti Street, c) the Larnaka Club opposite Pierides Museum on Zenonos Kitieos Street.

Similar buildings survive in the Skala Turkish quarter along Piale Pashia Street.
