Hong Kong, China
Today we rested a bit to nurse our colds and then had another look around Hong Kong. We took the Star Ferry across to Kowloon, on the mainland, and David showed me some of his favorite haunts  - he usually comes through Hong Kong several times a year. It was another cloudy, cold day, but the views of the skyline from the harbor were still impressive. We had morning coffee at the famous Peninsual Hotel, built in the glamor days of the 1920s, and retaining all of it's old world charm. We checked out the Chinese Arts and Crafts center nearby, with beautiful upscale products from China. We only looked....

Back over on Hong Kong, and later in the day we stopped for a beer in the Mandarin Oriental, another famous and fantastic hotel in Hong Kong. The other half live pretty well in Hong Kong.

This evening we had dinner with Ming Tak and his son Richard at the famous Jumbo floating restaurant. It's a major tourist landmark and featured in the James Bond movie, The Man with the Golden Gun. To reach it, in the middle of Aberdeen Harbor, one takes a restaurant launch from the harbor shore for the short ride out. There are several restaurants each on a different floor. Ming Tak took us to the one he prefers, which is located on the third floor.

Over dinner we discussed some of the issues he felt the church in Hong Kong and in Asia would face in the future. It will be a challenge to reach people in the Chinese culture, but it's not impossible, as the example of the Ma family shows. It was a very pleasant evening.
