On to Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China
This afternoon we caught a flight from Manila to Hong Kong, where we arrived just after dark. The drive in from the airport was quite interesting. Hong Kong is a very small place geographically, so there can be no urban sprawl. The town has gone verticle, with an amazing collection of skyscrapers. The lights of Hong Kong are enchanting, and have more than a touch of a science fiction futurist feel.

We left Manila under sunny skies and 80ºF (27° C) temperatures, only to arrive in Hong Kong experiencing rain and 40ºF (4ºC) temperatures. I would never have thought that Hong Kong could be cold, but it can. We were unpleasantly surprised to discover that our hotel did not have heat in the rooms, since it is rarely neccessary. We were finally able to get some little space heaters that at least took the chill off the room. I think Dave and I both are coming down with colds....
