By the way, a few of you are probably trying to remember, FYI: I was 68 yesterday. Born 1950, makes it easy to remember.
A very quiet day for us, but we still did get out and about in drenching wet Fort William. It wasn’t a heavy rain as such but very wetting. We even bought a large umbrella (£4), and it dried up a bit after that, then it blew so much that we couldn’t put it up anyway!
While Kevin was waiting for me this morn, he raced outside to see (from our wee grannyflat) the Jacobite train passing, well we could see the steam and smoke firing into the bushes, about 50mtrs as the crow flies.
Tomorrow 10.15am he is going to wait on our rail bridge to get pics of it - 9.15am I am caving in and going for a haircut and blow dry at the local. Convinced myself Vicki, that it’ll be 5wks before I get home and I promise not to let her take toooo much off, I hope to be back before the train comes thru.
When the Jacobite returns from Mallaig to Fort William it actually ‘tows' the carriages, so it doesn’t look as good as going to Mallaig.
St Andrews Anglican Church.
https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/fortwilliam/standrews/index.html. This is one Beautiful church. We spent about 20mins there.
The walking app re Fort William I had downloaded, showed there was an Old Fort “one of the most prominent attractions”, founded to control the inhabitants after Cromwell's invasion. Ok, we'll go take a look. Walked 1/2mile, sign said across the car park!? Raining & blowing, we asked an obviously local lady (she was buying shrubs), "over there, where the bus is going past, see it?" No? that bit of wall that’s crumbling, yep! As Kevin said - not to the lovely lady who said she always takes her visitors to old Inverlochy Castle, why don’t they dig a hole and bury some of these relics.
Took the lady's advise and went looking for the Castle - in the car, found it, looks awesome, went to park and realised we were on an exit road, tried to go back but ended up following the track. brilliant, we discovered the steam train restoration yards, and some of the back streets of the Fort William area.
We went back to the flat to dry off and have a coffee, but after an hour and the weather settling we went out again, with the intention of going to the castle, but the weather opened up again so we went to the supermarket instead. Would you believe, M&S (Marks & Spencer), right next to ?? - like our Warehouse, right next to Aldi, 3 supermarkets/stores, all the size of Bell Block warehouse within 100mtrs of each other.
We did a comparison - AFTER buying at M&S - big mistake. We’ll go to Aldi from now on, much cheaper and more variety.
Lots of fun and a few laughs.
9pm now and Princess Margaret 2nd episode is about to start, saw it last week and we both enjoyed it.

Stunning photos AJ. Churches are a work of art. Even I had a tear in one in the Netherlands earlier this year. Happy belated birthday. 68, how did that happen. I remember one of those pugs on the farm.

Hi Jac! Yes, you can’t miss the churches when traveling, it’s mind blowing the labour, the time & of course the money invested in them. Looking forward to seeing you all on 21st.
