Wednesday, we arrived safely home after two long days of driving in heavy winds. Needless to say, I was really glad to see the city limits of Sierra Vista.
It was really good to get to visit with Maurine and Maurice Tuesday evening. We got caught up with what had gone on since we last saw them in June.
We picked up some "Q" from Rudy's on the way over to their house. We had planned on getting some BBQ from Dickies, but it has closed, fortunately Rudy's just opened. I had not been to one before, but was very impressed with the quality and taste of their brisket and sausage. I picked their lean brisket and was very pleased with it. The sausage was also very good and had just a hint of heat. Kinda wished I had gotten the jalapeno version - bet it would be even better.
Another trip is in the book. This trip had it's unique aspects (each of them always do) in that we had a mission to attend the FMCA convention and represent our chapter during some key voting that could significantly change the direction of the Association, and we accomplished our plan to discover "Pure Michigan". I would say we did a pretty good job of doing just that. We got to see Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, and Lake Superior - I still say that the Great Lakes should be named the Great Seas, as they are huge bodies of water! Got to meet some interesting and friendly folks. Got to see some interesting and sometimes strange things. Got to see some beautiful scenery. Got to try a few wines from local wineries, and lots of beer from local breweries. And, last but not least, got to eat a lot of great food!
