The Daegu Herb Medicine Market has been operating for three hundred and fifty years. It is a truly an international market as visitors here will find medicines and merchants from countries such as China, Manchuria, Russia, and Europe.

This herb medicine festival displays medicinal herbs that are found in Korea’s mountains and visitors can experience a wide range of relaxing and curative traditional Oriental medicinal procedures. The Daegu Yangyeongsi Herb Medicine Festival is a fascinating event for foreigners who are interested in Korea’s medicinal herbs and the medical sciences and traditions of the East.
 
I did a walk thru before korean class, nothing too fancy . Because its downtown they dont have too much room for large scale festival events. The herbal street is a curved pedestrian street, in a small area they had a stage setup with some singers. The rest of it can be described as a sidewalk sale for the retail shops along the street.

In the centre of the street they had tents selling more herbal stuff or food vendors. The street had an aromatic scent from all the herbs in the stores with their doors open. The annual festival runs from Tuesday to Saturday this week.

Before class I also found a new turkish restaurant Star Kebabs. They serve halal chicken and lamb wraps, sandwiches, and burgers, along with rice, and turkish tea and ice cream. They guy said he was from Pammukale and has another store in Seoul. I'll suggest to them next time to add Baklava to their menu, now I have somewhere to eat every week before korean class.

How to Get to Star Kebabs: When you are coming south on Donseongno the pedestrian shopping street, turn left at the big stage by the Debec Dept Store, and walk in the opposite direction of Burger King & McDonalds. Turn right at the third street by the GS25 convenience store. You will see Star Kebabs on the left.

Thurdsay we have a holiday for Childrens Day, Friday nite am flying to Jeju for the second weekend holiday (tuesday is Buddhas Birthday so we get monday off). Went back to the Herbal Festival on thursday as I happened to be downtown. They had more crowds, street performers, and crafts activities.
