Today I was leaving Scotland and heading home at 8.30am from Glasgow. I left the hotel by 6am and the next airport bus was 6.08am. I had already scouted the bus stop and times for early Sunday morning
It was a ghost town Sunday morning and luckily the bus arrived on time. I had already purchased my return ticket when I arrived which was valid for 4 weeks.
This early a family was already in the front row of the double decker bus as the bus comes from the bus station
It was a quick morning ride to the airport. Glasgow airport has limited flights mostly to Europe sun destinations. Air Transat had half the terminal and was the largest international carrier with their daily flights to Canada. I had never met so many Canadians before on a trip
First they insisted to measure my hand luggage in the metal rack before they would give me a boarding card. The departure gate was not displayed so I tried to walk thru the terminal to look for an Air Transat plane.
The seat beside me was empty and there were French Canadian ladies sharing the two rows.
On arrival at Toronto it was 27 degrees doubling the cold July temperatures from Scotland.
Transit in Toronto is taking a step backwards. When I arrived in April from the Balkans the subway was not running.
First I took the UP Express train to Bloor Subway then I took two streetcars to get home. Toronto transit is so backwards and unreliable.
I'm already planning my return trip to Scotland and Orkney, Scotland's best kept secret, now I know what to expect with weather and transport
