Thurso - Scotland's last Train Station

Thurso Beach, Scotland, United Kingdom
After my two days of eventful travel and unreliable trains I had finally made it to the northern tip of Scotland at Thurso to wait for my ferry to Orkney the next day. I didnt want to take the ferry on the same day to allow time to rest after the long journey to get here and because hotels were cheaper in the mainland than on the Island of Orkney.
Leaving the hotel I went for a walk in this small town. They probably lose out on a lot of visitors who go directly to the ferry paying no attention. It is nice to visit this small towns and help their economy
The beachfront was a few streets away but was extremely windy. Some people were walking dogs but it must be violent year round with storms if it was this windy just in July
In the distance was a castle ruin but it would be a lot of walking and not sure you had access behind other buildings
The house designs were very impressive and once again listings in estate agents seemed to be very low prices in surrounding areas.
With housing shortages in the UK I'm surprised people are not buying these bargain homes despite the weather.
Navigating the streets in what would have been the old town is the ruins of St Peter's church. This reminded  me of the many church ruins in Famagusta Cyprus
I got some Fish from a local fish & chips shop for 7.50 pounds. Quite a jump from when I was at school
It was a very nice and quiet town to do some walking and get some rest and a good choice rather than going directly to the ferry. I had a very nice room in the hotel to relax and wished I was staying here longer
