Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia
Well after 19 days and close to 5,000 kms, we are here in Tamworth and it is hot, hot, hot!First morning was spent cleaning the caravan and setting up for our two weeks.  Also got our hats out of their bags, ready to look the part!  Second evening a drink at the Oasis pub and plenty of dancing for Gary & Julie and Kevin & Val. Second morning a coffee on Peel Street and some time checking out "The Buskers".Third evening was the Official Opening at Bicentennial Park and it was fantastic.  Troy Casar-Daley and Adam Harvey were quite something!  So much so I have booked tickets to see them on tour together at the Opera House on the 28th March.  Special day for Peter and I.  So wherever we are, we are going to Sydney for that weekend.  Best man and his wife are coming too!  Saturday was a day without a big tick, but we did visit the Wax Museum and the "Big Guitar".Sunday morning we went for breakfast with the Bush Poets at the Longyard Hotel and they were very entertaining.  Sunday night was a night to remember!  We went to "The Pub" and had a free concert with Bill Chambers and Audrey Auld.   Bill and Audrey are Casey Chambers parents and Bill was with Casey at Boyup Brook last year.  He told stories of his married life to Audrey and their constant fighting.  At times on stage when they were performing together!  Audrey had played at the free concert on Friday night and she hasn't been to Tamworth for about ten years I think she said.  She has now remarried and lives in the USA.  Anyway we made sure we got there early.  Audrey was there early also, but Bill didn't turn up until about 10 minutes before the show!  To top it off, he was in no hurry to set up!  We really thought all was brewing for a "Show Down".  Well Audrey didn't miss an opportunity to make her point with him and we had plenty of laughs and did so enjoy the music they played.  Good old Country Music!  We all believed we had witnessed a show that is not likely to happen very often and both Audrey and Bill, said "They had really enjoyed doing the gig"!  Michelle (male) on the steel guitar was truly amazing as well.  Michelle had played at the opening concert as well with Troy and Adam. Monday arfo we went to a Show at the West Tamworth Bowling Club with Gary and Julie.  Not one of the four of us enjoyed the show, but you no doubt get that!   In the morning we went and heard Kate Linke play with two other West Aussies at Bicentennial Park and sitting under the trees was quite pleasant.  We have become 'Kate Fans' after hearing her perform at Boyup Brook last year.  She grew up on a station at Wiluna and her family now farm at Badgingarra.  Monday night was another super show!  Ray and Tania Kernaghan.  The Kernaghan's are certainly a very talented family.  Two more CD's purchased!  I should have quite a collection by the end of the week!  The four women enjoyed a "Line Dancing" class this morning and there is another show for us all tonight.  Really enjoying the experience and if we haven't had our fill of country music by the end of the week, we must be hard to please! 10 photos
