If anyone had said to me "You could even blog in Peel Street Tamworth, Pam" my response would have been "Yea right"!!But here we are at 8.30am (really 7.30am, damn daylight saving) perched up on the fence in Peel Street, ready for the Tamworth Music Festival Cavalcade! The last ten days seem to have gone fast and boo hoo we only have two shows left to go to. The Golden Guitar Awards tonight and then Dag Station tomorrow. Sounds an appropriate venue and somewhere different to celebrate Australia Day together. Gary and Julie leave us on Wednesday and Coral flies home that day as well. We have had a great time! Some days we have felt music'd out by the end of the day, but the batteries recharge overnight and we are looking at the programme again in the morning. Eager to see what we can fit in again the next day! Pete is even reading the paper at the moment in Peel Street. How about that!I have met some really nice people while queued to get CD's signed (certainly not Peter's scene). I have asked people if they are using obvious spare chairs.
So we can get closer to the front and Peter can sit down! Once again he would rather stand at the back than do that!I've just asked Peter what his favourite show has been and he has said "Sara Storer & Friends" and that has been mine as well. Sara was so lovely, very honest and genuine and shared her country music journey. John Williamson sang a song he had especially written for her. It was John that got her back on track two years ago when she was on a downer. She was quite emotional at times during the show and apologised for her bladder being too close to her eyes! Mine was too and I think there probably wasn't much makeup left by the end of the show! Sara lives in Darwin with her husband and three little boys and would dearly love a little girl. I wonder if the the emotions were uncontrollable because the hormones weren't behaving! Time will tell! Sara had her brother Greg playing the guitar alongside her and he helps her with her song writing.
31st January....Well back again after nearly a week! I will need to get this posted tonight or it will be a week tomorrow since I started this jolly blog! And I thought I was so clever starting it on Peel Street!Well I will have to finish the Sara Storer story. Sara won the "Album of the Year" at the Golden Guitar Awards. Made the queuing for the CD "Lovegrass" to be signed by Sara an even more special CD! Sara also won Female Artist of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year for a song (that is also on the CD) that she sung with John Williamson. Lee Kernaghan scooped the pool with his song "Flying With the King". It is ten years since Slim Dusty died and the theme of the festival has definitely been about remembering the "King of Country Music". Dag Station was interesting to visit on Australia Day and the drive to Nundle was lovely. It would be even prettier when it was green. Everything is very dry and they are very desperate for rain in the whole Tamworth area. We didn't rate the Dag Station show highly, but we did have a lovely coffee at the Peel Inn Hotel and probably would have enjoyed an evening at the Pub more! Unfortunately we missed catching up with Delma's niece Toni, but we left a message with the owners to be passed on to her.

So Tamworth is now over for another year! Will we be back? We all reckon God willing, maybe in a few years time. It was a wonderful experience and we now have crossed it off the "Bucket List"!
