Magic Trip Through the Mountains

Grafton, New South Wales, Australia
Our trip from Glen Innes to Grafton on the Gwydir Highway was just magical.  The scenery was magnificent.  The rain forest was so thick and very tall in places!  There were plenty of twists and turns in the road!I was very glad it was Peter driving with the van behind and not me!  Not that I have ever towed the van and certainly hope that I don't have to!
We didn't have to go very far up the mountain from Glen Innes before the countryside became a whole lot greener.  We stopped at Gibraltor Range Information Rest Area for morning tea and the temperature was only 16 degrees.  By the time we got to the bottom of the mountain, it was a very pleasant 26 degrees.  The climb, descent and too many bends in the road to count, didn't seem to worry my hubby. Finally, he has that woman that should be telling us where we want to go, giving the right directions!  She has been giving Pete a bit of trouble and I was beginning to think she was going to win!  He has become as obsessed with the built in navigational software in the car, as I am with the laptop and its software!  Determined to get it sussed!!
We stopped for lunch once we were through Grafton and on the Pacific Highway.  There was a large pull off area which suited us fine.  Lunch was a little late though!  Not much to report about Grafton as it all was too busy to stop and visit anywhere.  What I did read on a sign was  'Welcome to Northern Rivers NSW' about 70 kms from Grafton.  There was also a sign on the edge of town that said "First City on the North Coast".All was fine with the navigational gear until we got to the new roadworks on the Pacific Highway, not far from Coffs Harbour. Then 'that woman' was lost again'!  So we had a little detour off the highway and back onto it again!
I'm happy with my quick snaps from the car window once again.   Plus the magical photo shoot on the top of the mountain!
