After a rather wet and miserable day yesterday we awoke to a bright warm morning which was quite hot as the day went on.
We headed off towards Griffith in the Riverina District part of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area,
Along the way we saw the following
Bundadurrah Bridge this was as a result of trying to winkle a cache out
We stopped in West Wyalong for a coffee and jelly slice
We also went Copeland Reserve and viewed the Old True Blue Stamp Mill. In 1897 Wyalong produced more gold than any other mining division in the country.
The this stamp mill is one of the many that were operational in the True Blue Mine. Stamp Mills were used to crush the ore prior to extracting gold. The True Blue Mine was located in Main Street Central Wyalong and was discovered by James Cusack and John Jones. It was operational from Jan 5 1894, ceasing production in 1920. The tower is the home for a flock of pigeons we could hear them cooing inside.
Also located in the reserve was a Liebherr Bucket, the excavation bucket was donated to the Bland Shire as a reminder of the mines contribution to the shire, The bucket weight 24 tonne and 3.2 metres wide and high it holds 18 m3. You can see how big it is with Linda standing inside
Continued onto towards Griffith and stopped at Weethalia to take this photo of a painted silo.
Before heading to our accommodation we stopped for a cheese board platter lunch at Yarran Wines it was great. The area has burn offs occurring which is from the burning of the waste from the recent rice harvest.
Caches for today - 11 found - 4 traf, 6 tri and 1 virtual = total 310

Good to see you are both travelling well although Linda doesn’t look too happy at the vineyard or the coffee stop 😂 Those silos look amazing! All is well on the home front. Sunny days and very cold nights and mornings. Happy and safe travels.
