Stresa, Piedmont, Italy
The main tourist attractions from Stresa are the islands
which are easily accessible by both public and private ferries. From our
balcony we can see numerous ferries plying their way to various locations, including
Locarno in Switzerland 37 km to the north.
The public ferry terminal is just
100 m from our hotel, so we took the round-trip to the amazing islands of Isola
Bella with its opulent 17th century palace and monumental gardens,
and Isola Madre home to a traditional 16th century Italian villa and attractive rambling
gardens.
Both still not feeling 100%, we took time out over a
simple but delicious long lunch at a restaurant on Isola Madre where we were
charmed by our friendly and informative Egyptian/Greek waiter.

Like you we so loved visiting Stresa. We also had terrible trouble parking and oh! Those narrow streets! Not for the faint hearted especially in a new electric car. 🤣So glad you are enjoying the islands, the gardens and painted walls in the piazzas. Such a special place. ❤️
