We're getting into a real pattern here now. We have a busy couple of days and then have a down one. Today was a down one.
In the morning, we found a supermarket and bought our basics - wine, bread, cheese, bananas, milk and some strawberry bath soap. We've been using a soap which I bought on our first day here, an olive oil soap, and now we smell a bit too olivy. We eat it on most salads and now on our skin - quite lubricated inside and out!
Dropping off our groceries, we changed into our walking shoes and headed to a neat village just north of here, a place called Nea Kios. It's an interesting fishing village, mixed with a feeling of being a tourist town when summer and European tourists arrive.
Fishermen and women were selling today's catch in stalls on the waterfront. There were squid, some pink fish and we even saw a swordfish being cleaned and cut up. As we walked along the waterfront, a man was fishing off the wharf using a spring-loaded spear gun. It looked like a 3-pronged trident.
Then, we enjoyed a great "horizontal" walk along the river's edge, not up or down castle steps, mountain tops nor gorges. The path wound through small fields of olive trees, oranges, beets, lettuce and we now know that artichokes grow in the ground, and grow about 4 - 5 feet high.
After lunch back at our apartment, we spent some time on the beach, but there's a cool wind coming off the water, so back to our apartment for afternoon siesta.

You know you’re on vacation when wine tops your list of “basic” supermarket purchases! Love it! Xo

Olive oil soap has become a staple in my house since our Greek travels. It's so much nicer for one's skin. Well, in my humble opinion...LOL! Enjoy every second of every day in the warm sun! As you have heard, our weather here in Ontario has been unprecedented for April...and not in a good way...come on Spring....please!! Rumour has it, next week it may finally arrive. Love ya' friends. Hugs, N.
