Yesterday was a quiet day as it was our last day in Xiropigado, in the Peloponnese region of Greece. We did some last minute shopping, laundry and enjoyed the afternoon at the beach below our apartment. I didn't go swimming as the breeze was coming off the water making it quite cool.
This morning we said Andeeo (Goodbye) to Christina, Vasilis and headed north to Korinth then west to Patra. Just before Patra, there'a big suspension bridge across the Korinthian Gulf. It was quite a beautiful structure, very modern looking and efficient (and expensive. It cost nearly 14 euros to cross, a little more than $20).
Now, we drove along the northern coast of the Korinthian Gulf, towards Galaxidi, not far from Delphi. Galaxidi is gearing up for the summer tourist season, and Tom and I enjoyed a late lunch down by the waterfront. I had my first fresh fish, Tom souvlaki and tzatziki, and we shared a Greek salad. The waiter took me to the back fridge and I had to pick out my own fish to be grilled.
After checking in at Porto Lourba Hotel, we went for a walk along the seafront. Just across the water, there are mountains that are still snow covered. It's such a different climate here, not nearly so mountainous, but the air is gentle everywhere. We're looking forward to our visit to Delphi tomorrow.
