Time to relax . . . in Datca

Datça, Muğla, Turkey
After much consideration, we had decided to spend our last big chunk of time relaxing at a seaside village rather than rushing and driving long distance to catch one last set of ruins or tourist highlight.  We chose the small town of Datça on a skinny little peninsula of the same name jutting into the Aegean on the southwestern corner of the country.  We planned to spend three nights, intending a day to explore the town itself and just chill, a day on some local beaches, and a day to the far end of the peninsula where there were a few ruins and a spectacular view.  It was a long drive, made slow in large part due to the narrow, rocky and hilly nature of the peninsula once we got that far.  But we got to Datca early enough to walk around the harbor on a beautifully sunny afternoon (albeit still a little windy…  we cannot get rid of this pesky wind).  True to expectations, our little hotel fronted on the harbor and we had a top floor “sea view” room.  A pleasant dinner on the harbor completed our day.  It was just what the doctor ordered.  Well not the back doctor.  Remember that 44-pound rug?  That top floor room was a walk-up....
