Really relaxing on a rain day in Datca

Datça, Muğla, Turkey
We awoke to a change of plans today, with rain beating on our balcony door and the wind howling.  This was to have been Craig’s sandy beach day, and he immediately suggested that we stay one extra night here since tomorrow’s forecast is a return to sunshine.  So we declared a rain day and went to a café on the harbor front and watched the waves crashing while reading and drinking hot chocolate and mochas (yes, Phyllis had two… the stock market was up).  It did not let up all day, and by evening the harbor’s clear blue water had turned brown from all the runoff.  Even the town dogs, who normally hung out in a friendly group of six or seven tail-waggers on the edge of the harbor, had fled somewhere out of the weather.  We got a lot of housekeeping done during the afternoon, including some laundry and catching up more on this trip narrative.  There was enough of a let-up for us to find a different restaurant for dinner, one also overlooking the harbor and with excellent sea bass, but after we returned to the hotel it started thundering and lightening again.  We wondered if tomorrow would be a beach day after all.
