Sobrino de Botín, Comunidad de Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands
Our last day in Madrid before we head off to Valencia for a couple of days. We thought we would finally get around to having our anniversary celebration, two months late. And what better place to celebrate than at the worlds oldest restaurant - Sobrino de Botin
What a wonderful meal it was. Suckling pig (house specialty) sauted mushrooms with iberian ham, chicken fricasee with almond sauce, Portugese cod with red peppers. All washed down with a most excellent bottle of red wine.
A perfect way to end our visit to Madrid. We have both been totally captivated by Madrid. Considering it is the third largest city in the EU, it is a city without the hustle and bustle of others. Wide boulevards provide ample space for walking (Madrid is a very walkable city). Gardens and fountains are dotted all throughout the city, providing peaceful havens for quiet reflection. A very efficient public transport system provides easy access to all parts of the city.
Tomorrow we are headed for Valencia for a few days before we return to Madrid to fly out for parts unknown.
