Good weather for ducks

Sliema, Malta
Went for a walk over to Manoel Island.  Skies looked rather gloomy. Hopefully the weather will hold. First stop on the island was Duck Village. And yes, it is a village for ducks. Looks like a refuge for wayward birds. Occupants included ducks chickens and pigeons. Apart from the sometimes overpowering smell normally associated with poultry it looked clean and well organised.
Lots of boats are in dry dock (the island also serves as a boatyard). Unfortunately the island is undergoing a restoration project so we couldn't access everything.
By the time we started heading back, the weather looked like it was going to take a turn for the worse. Wind was gusting quite strongly and starting to rain. Found some temporary shelter behind a shipping container. As the rain got heavier we were getting wetter. Didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon so we decided to head back to the hotel anyway. Got a right old soaking. People gave us some strange looks as they passed us with their umbrellas and rain jackets (I'm sure they were saying "Stupid tourists" as they passed.
Finally made it back to the hotel thoroughly soaked. Warm shower, dry clothes, and we were soon ready to head out again (sunny by now) for happy hour at a local bar we have frequented - the staff know us by sight now.
