Our first cuckoo

Augustenborg, Denmark
Sadly, another nothing-to-report day. It is marginally, warmer but just as wet as a few days ago. It is such a disappointment, as the long term weather forecast a few days ago intimated warmer and sunnier weather and now it is forecasting highly changeable weather but with the air a few degrees warmer. So today we got our laundry done, which in itself is a hassle when you can’t air dry your clothes, it takes so much longer when you have to wait for the dryer for two loads. We started around 08:30 and it was almost 14:00 when all was done and even then not everything was dry – see picture. One final point – when you have to feed machines with money and / or check whether the clothes are dry, then each time it means getting waterproofs on and walking 3 minutes or so to the facilities – we repeated the journey 7 times in all – one way of getting exercise but I’m sure you’ll agree, a pain nevertheless.
Later in the afternoon the rain eased off and we went for a short walk around the edges of the fjord, when we heard our first cuckoo this year and then into the town. I must say that from looking at what Augustenborg has to offer when compared to Fehmarn, Fehmarn wins hands down. There are many more shops ie there are some and the Weilandt and Baltic Köln operations are bigger by far and have more skilled people to call on.
Tonight I’ll turn out some sort of curry and I guess we’ll watch a bit more TV and that’s it for the day.
