To get to the hill-town of Sighnaghi we had to take a two hour colectivo. Colectivo’s just a fancy Latino word for a mini-van filled to the ying-yang with mostly locals. The average cost per person is about a buck-an-hour. While I couldn’t even move my head, Elenka was able to converse with a Deutscher and a well spoken gent from the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese guy said he’d never been to a less expensive country than right here in Georgia. A light bulb flashed over my head as I rubbed my thumb against my still bulging wallet. So that is why we’ve been eating and drinking so well.
Today, we walked up many hills. And down many others. Tomorrow we travel to a higher place where the hills are said to be steeper. Elenka can’t wait.
