Sabah Islamic Museum

Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia
Kota Kinabalu was a forced layover I hadnt planned on. Tomorrow was the big Islamic holiday and air prices were a mess this week during peak travel season. The normal Air Asia flight to Penang for $49 had jumped to $156 today. If I fly tomorrow it goes down to $116. After that I cant stay any longer or it messes up my plans in other cities.

I also needed to know where I can pray for Eid Namaaz and how I would get to the airport tomorrow when everything could be closed for the holiday. I was told the bus drivers were all Muslim so buses may not be running tomorrow. Worst case I would have to take a cab.

I found a Mosque near the hostel where they said the Hari Raya Eid Prayer would be at 7.45am tomorrow. With one worry off my mind I continued walking in the morning heat to where some museums were.

I wanted to visit the Sabah Islamic Museum but couldn't seem to find where it was. Eventually I did and entrance was a whopping 15Rm ($5). As it had just opened at 9am nobody was there so I continued and went in.

No photography was allowed as usual but as nobody was there yet I took some.

On my way out nobody was still at the front desk for me to pay. I felt bad that as a Muslim I went to an Islamic Museum during a religious month and didn't pay. There was no donations box and I didn't want to just leave cash on the counter.
