Leaving the archaeological site of Mycenae our tour now took us to a resort hotel for lunch. Lunch was not included in my option so I had the choice to buy lunch or get something from the cafeteria.
This was a resort hotel in the middle of nowhere. It was low season and we were the only people here. I went to the cafeteria but it was closed. Luckily at our earlier stop in Corinth I had bought a burger and had other food so I sat by the pool and had my lunch.
We were in this hotel for an hour with nothing to really do. Even their wifi signal wasnt good and would cut out. After an hour we left and drove a short distance to Nafplio.
This was a more historic town and site of the first Greek capital after independence from the Turks. There was a sea castle used as a prison and hotel in the past. Also a hilltop citadel.
There was an abundance of cafes, restaurants, and charming side streets. It would have been much more interesting to have spent the hour here for lunch as we now only had a 20 minute brief stop for photos.
I wandered thru the side streets taking pics and looking for somewhere to buy ice cream. To my surprise I found an old Turkish Mosque and another one in the central square though they are no longer in use.
There was a lot to see and I would have much rather have spent 90 mins here for lunch then that stupid resort hotel wasting time. I wrote this more politely in my online feedback but they didnt publish it.
I was able to find some delightful baklava ice cream but with our brief pitstop I wasnt able to bring it on the bus so had to quickly chug it down while the bus idled and waited for me so they could drive off.
