Toronto Pearson International Airport, Ontario, Canada
For this weeks trip I was using my airmiles to travel to Atlantic Canada. You can travel to most cities within Canada for a flat 25,000 Aeroplan/Star Alliance miles. This is good for trips since domestic air travel is ridiculously expensive and you can get cheaper flights to Europe than a flight to Vancouver.
It was hot but there were midday showers as the flight arrived for take off. We were delayed half an hour which meant I would arrive later at night.
Despite travelling to Eastern Canada the take off took us west across Mississauga before it circled back across Toronto heading east.
For the duration of the flight there was a Lufthansa flight flying in tandem to us. Rather than going along the St Lawrence like European flights we went north up to Northern Ontario and across Northern Quebec as I couldnt recognize any of the towns or landmass.

On descent into St John's it was already dark so not much to see. I was staying at a university campus dorm room as cheaper than a hotel. There are direct buses but they stop at 4pm on weekends so I had to take a cab.
Cab fare is a flat $20 but an anxious lady kept asking to share a cab so we went together. She was from Chicago and planning to go hiking. It cost $15 to the campus for my leg.
In summer months they open up the dorm rooms to paying guests. Also included is breakfast and full use of gym facilities but it was a 25 min walk from the centre.
