This was my first night to sleep in Scotland. I was not aware of the long day light hours. It only got dark at 11pm and sunrise was at 4am. On top of that was the loud noise of seagulls even though I was a few kms from the coast.
After I was almost not able to visit Edinburgh Castle as they claimed it was sold out for the day (even though tickets were available online that I purchased) I tried to buy tickets for the Royal Palace of Holyroodhouse. I kept getting the same message this time that no tickets were available. I later found out when I visited this was due to a Royal visit and it was closed to the public but this was not mentioned on the website
This morning I was going to walk to Dean Village on the western side of central Edinburgh. I walked along Queen Street which had a long gated park which was private for members only. Though this would be a interesting city to come back and bike
I was trying to get to Dean Village but went the wrong way round crossing the large bridge. The map suggested it would lead into the village but I had to walk the long way round to enter.
This was community housing where the artisans would work onsite. Today they are private residences so you can only view from outside.
They were scenic along the river and many more tourists were arriving.
I navigated the streets back towards The Georgian House. A very large group arrived so I quickly got my ticket (12.50 pounds) to get ahead and away from them.
It was a three level house with a ballroom on one floor for the social functions
The house is not big and the large group made the space tight and waiting to clear the room to take pictures
Finally heading back towards the center was a Saturday market where I was able to get some late breakfast to keep me going
