Continuing on next stop was to the National Gallery of Scotland in the town centre on the long mound spanning the centre. Entrance is now free to all museums as had been the case prior to Thatcher's cuts in the early 1980s. It just made for a long day of walking with very few places to sit inside the busy museum except for the cafe.
The museum is spread over three floors. It ranges from classical, European, modernist, and contemporary
There are actually two buildings that connect thru an underground walkway. The second smaller building is for the modern and contemporary art exhibits
